Best Time to Post

Best Time to Post

By JC, creator of @jonnycage · Updated November 3, 2026

The best time to post on Instagram is the middle of the week, and Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. is the one slot that four of five big 2026 studies agree on. For TikTok, four 2026 studies overlap on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. Use your audience's local time for both.

My own reels broke those rules. My biggest one (8.38 million views) was posted on a Tuesday at 10:56 p.m., a slot none of the five studies name. And when I posted the same clip with three different first lines and songs, the weakest pulled 2,758 views and the best pulled 747,760. That's why this site puts the hook next to the clock.

I'm JC, and I post reels as @jonnycage. 189 of my 243 reels stayed off my profile grid, and those reels still pulled in 83% of my reel views. Those are my numbers, with dates, not a promise of yours. Everything here is in plain words, with the sources at the end of each section.
