Best Time to Post on TikTok in 2027

The best time to post on TikTok, going by where the big 2026 studies overlap, is Tuesday or Thursday from noon to about 6 p.m., or Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m., in your audience's time zone.

When is the best time to post on TikTok?

I went looking for TikTok studies the same way I did for Instagram. Four big ones came out in 2026. Here's what each one found.

StudyHow bigBest timesBest days
Sprout Social (2026)307,000 profiles, about 2 billion engagementsTue to Thu, 2 to 6 p.m.Weekdays. Skip weekends
Buffer, 20267.1 million postsSunday 9 a.m., then Monday 1 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. Evenings, 6 to 11 p.m., run strongSaturday, then Monday and Sunday
SocialPilot, 2026 (posts from 2025)700,000 posts from 50,000+ accounts8 a.m. and 8 p.m., then 2 to 4 p.m.Tue, Wed, Thu
RecurPost, 20262 million+ scheduled postsMonday 1 p.m., Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m. (US Eastern)Not ranked by day

They clash hard on the weekend. Sprout says skip Saturday and Sunday. Buffer says Saturday is the best day of the week. That's not anyone lying. They studied different accounts in different ways.

So I plotted all four together. Every square shows the number of studies that pick that day and 3-hour block. Four slots get 3 of the 4 studies. No slot gets all four.

Times are your audience's local time. RecurPost measured in US Eastern time.
I took every study's picks for each day and counted them per block. Buffer lists many times, so like on my Instagram chart, only its top two per day count here. Hover over or tap any square for the study names.

Two studies from big brands didn't make my chart. Hootsuite's newest TikTok page still uses data it labels 2025, and Later's 2025 advice came from its own account. I kept the chart to 2026 studies with big samples.

Best time to post on TikTok by day

Here's every day side by side. Sprout, Buffer and SocialPilot say their times work in your audience's local time. RecurPost's are US Eastern.

SundaySkip9 a.m. (best slot of the week), 1 p.m.9 a.m., 10 a.m., 4 p.m.Noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m.

Monday

Start at 1 p.m. Buffer and RecurPost both name it. Sprout and SocialPilot lean later, 3 to 7 p.m., so that's your second try.

Tuesday

The safest day on the chart. Noon to 6 p.m. gets three of the four studies, in two blocks in a row.

Wednesday

The studies scatter. Afternoon works for Sprout and SocialPilot, and 9 to 10 p.m. works for Buffer and RecurPost. Test one of each.

Thursday

Aim for 1 p.m. Sprout, Buffer and SocialPilot all cover the noon to 3 p.m. block.

Friday

Late afternoon into the evening. Sprout says 3 to 5 p.m., RecurPost 5 p.m., and Buffer 6 p.m.

Saturday

Try 3 to 6 p.m. Buffer, SocialPilot and RecurPost all land there, and Buffer calls Saturday its best day. Sprout is the one study that says to stay off weekends.

Sunday

Try 9 a.m. It's Buffer's top slot of the whole week, and SocialPilot names 9 a.m. too. Noon to 4 p.m. is the backup.

What's the best time to post on TikTok today?

This box reads today's day from your phone and shows what the studies say for it.

If the window has passed, don't wait for tomorrow. Post in the next slot that day, or check your own active times. For Instagram, my best time to post on Instagram today page gives you today's window too, and my best day to post on Instagram page breaks Instagram down day by day.

Does posting time matter on TikTok?

Less than most people think. TikTok has said what its For You feed looks at: what you like, share and comment on, the accounts you follow and the videos you make, details of the video like captions, sounds and hashtags, and some device and account settings. Post time isn't on that list.

TikTok also says follower count and past hits aren't direct factors. A small account can land on the For You page. Timing just helps because people have to be awake to watch.

So treat the chart as a starting point. The first 3 seconds of your video decide far more than the clock does. On Instagram I tested the same footage with three different hooks, and a different song each time: one got 2,758 views and another got 747,760.

How do you find your own best time on TikTok?

  1. Step 1Open TikTok Studio and go to your analytics. Buffer and RecurPost both point to the follower activity view there. If it isn't where they say, check the other tabs in your analytics.
  2. Step 2Note the two busiest hours and the two busiest days.
  3. Step 3For two weeks, post at those times. Log views, shares and saves after 24 hours, then keep what wins.

Menus move around between app versions, so if the names don't match, look for anything about when your audience is active.

Sources: Buffer (September 14, 2026) and RecurPost (September 29, 2026) on TikTok Studio's activity data. TikTok's own help page on TikTok Studio didn't load for me, so I can't quote its menu names.

Cross-post it as an Instagram Trial Reel

Here's the move most TikTok guides skip. If a video works on TikTok, run it on Instagram as a Trial Reel. Instagram shows a trial to non-followers first. When it does well, it can reach your followers later, either because you tap share or because you let Instagram do it based on its first 72 hours.

That fits how I already grow. During my best 90-day run, 95.3% of the views on my Instagram came from people who didn't follow me. Here's the checklist I'd use:

  1. 1. Use the clean fileUpload your own edit, not the TikTok download. Instagram says it's less likely to recommend videos with a visible watermark.
  2. 2. Keep it shortIn the US, reels up to 3 minutes can be recommended to non-followers. My own sweet spot is far shorter: reels of 10 to 15 seconds hold 76% of my views.
  3. 3. Rewrite the first lineA Trial Reel goes out cold, so the hook has to work on strangers. Test two or three versions, like I did.
  4. 4. Post it in Instagram's windowTikTok's and Instagram's best hours only partly overlap. Use my best time to post on Instagram research for the Instagram side.
  5. 5. Read it after a dayInstagram shows a trial's numbers about 24 hours after you share it. Look at shares and saves before you look at views.
  6. 6. Pick the winnerShare the best version with your followers, or let the automatic option do it.

One more thing. Instagram ranks Reels mostly for people who don't follow you, a lot like TikTok's For You page. I break down what it looks at in how the Instagram algorithm works.

Questions people ask

What is the peak hour for TikTok?

No single hour wins in every study. Sprout Social points to 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday. Buffer's top slot is Sunday at 9 a.m., and SocialPilot names 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

What is the best time to post on TikTok on Saturday?

Three of the four studies name 3 to 6 p.m. Buffer even calls Saturday its best day, with 5 p.m. on top. Sprout Social is the odd one out: it says to skip weekends.

What is the best time to post on TikTok on Sunday?

Buffer's single best slot of the whole week is Sunday at 9 a.m. SocialPilot also names 9 and 10 a.m., and RecurPost names noon to 4 p.m. Eastern.

What is the 3 second rule on TikTok?

It's a creator rule of thumb, not a TikTok rule: hook people in the first 3 seconds or they swipe. Instagram's own Reels ranking card even predicts whether you'll watch less than 3 seconds.

Can I post the same video on TikTok and Instagram?

Yes. Upload the clean file without the TikTok watermark, because Instagram says it's less likely to recommend watermarked videos. Then try it as a Trial Reel so strangers see it first.
